Hi, I’m Jason. This is my story… Early Years I started working with log furniture when I was 16. Back then, I worked for my father’s company, Lakeland Mills, Inc., in Michigan. Now I co-own it. In the early days, I worked in the factory learning all the individual jobs necessary to build quality log furniture. Later, while enjoying the art of crafting high-quality furniture by hand, I discovered the “office” side of running a business including accounting and sales processing. Another educational landmark was learning how to properly handle customer service calls and having the opportunity to work with other furniture businesses as distributors. This rounded out my experience in our family business. The most valuable lesson?  How essential excellent customer service is to all other aspects of our business.

Coming of (The Internet) Age

I relocated to the beautiful state of Tennessee to continue my college education. While there, I learned how to design websites. At that time, the Internet was relatively new and the possibilities intrigued me!

In late 1996 I decided to create my own website-based company to sell my family’s log furniture products online. It was run from my personal college webpage and became so popular that I decided to go officially live in 1998 as www.JHuntEnterprises.com.  According to my own research, we were the first log furniture store online.

In 2000, we launched www.CedarLogFurniture.com and have been registering log furniture-related domains ever since.

Expansion

At first, I was only selling my family’s products and I watched them gain momentum thanks to wonderful word-of-mouth from our fine customers (Thank you all!) Selling our products online was so popular, other companies started approaching me to sell their log furniture lines as well.

Some companies I knew from working for my parents. Due to my experience and sound relationship, I was confident in the quality of their products. Those that were new required me to personally examine how the wood was prepared, how the furniture was built, and how the quality of the finished product measured up to my standards. Only those that “made the cut” were accepted. After all, it is my name on the site!

Always Picky

Even now, I include a limited number of select companies because I want to be sure the log furniture pieces on my website are of the highest quality. Our product lines do continue to grow as we find quality manufacturers of log furniture (or as they find us). We keep the growth in check so our customer service remains top-notch even as we expand.

Service matters. It’s the most important thing we do. It starts with the quality of the wood used by the companies we represent and ends with customers still satisfied years after the original sale. Our customers are repeat customers and they recommend us to their families and friends. We earn that trust every day and guarantee every item we sell… even those we sell for other companies!

We choose quality over quantity with our own products, and with the companies we represent, for the customers we serve. Isn’t it interesting how choosing quality means the other follows all by itself?
